Welcome to Club 45, the ultimate fan club.
It is all about 45.
The history behind the number 45 is this.
In the US, the AMA assigned numbers based on experience.
One of the first to use the 45 was Bruce Penhall.
Greg was the prodigy of Bruce, so when Bruce retired from speedway in 1982
that number came available however another rider named Greg Ayers took the number
then as Greg was still too young for the professional ranks. When Ayers retired
the number again in 1987 Greg started using it as his National riding number.
In 2008, Greg approached BSI/IMG about
using the number 45 instead of number 6 for his Grand Prix riding number.He felt that this would make him much more marketable, because every year
he would still be number 45.Part of
this idea is taken from NASCAR, because it doesn’t matter if you win the championship
or not you are still known by your number.
Jimmie Johnson, the three time defending champion is number 48.All you have to do is mention the 48 and instantly everyone knows you are
talking about Jimmie Johnson.
Competitions. All members of Club 45 will be entered into
a drawing for 2 Grand Prix tickets and paddock passes at the Grand Prix of their
choice. There is also the “When Greg
wins, YOU Win” contest.Each week prior
to a Grand Prix, Club 45 members can
enter the “When Greg Wins, YOU Win” contest once per week until Greg wins his next
Grand Prix. (Each week begins on Sunday and ends at 1500 GMT Saturday.)
Once Greg wins his next Grand Prix, all entries
from that time period will be collected and 4 winners will be randomly drawn to
receive one of the following prizes:
One winner will receive a Greg Hancock Hat
One winner will receive a Greg Hancock Sticker
One winner will receive a Greg Hancock Calendar
One winner will receive a Greg Hancock Pit Shirt
After Greg wins a Grand Prix and we hold the
drawing, the contest starts over again until he wins his next race for the next
drawing, and so on. Overall giveaway
contest will run through the entire 2009 FIM Speedway Grand Prix season.
The more Greg wins, the more prizes
we give away.
