Busy Week & Missed Flights
Well I didn’t make the meeting for my Russian club in the end as I missed a connecting flight to the Ukraine and I couldn’t get another flight. That was a real bummer as I felt sorry for the club and I also felt sorry for my mechanic who had driven from Poland to the track only to then have to turn around and wait at the Polish boarder for 8 hours.
I then moved on to a European cup meeting in Slovenia where I had the chance to test some bikes and engines out. I got some really good data back from the meeting and I finished 5th overall as I went out in the semi finals.
My week then continued when we were riding in Leszno. Yet again I missed another flight and arrived at the track with only ten minutes to spare. It took me a few heats to get going, but after that I got into my rhythm and scored some useful points. Sadly we lost by 11 points on the night.
Back in Sweden we then had a meeting against Dackarna. I personally had a good night although I had a breakdown in one race. We were missing Adam Shields again who I hope is recovering well and we were just down on overall team strength with many of our key members missing. Charlie Gjedde had an off night too, but in the end it was being down too many riders that we didn’t have enough to take a challenge to Dackarna.
On Wednesday I had a guest booking in Denmark for Outrup and I also had Travis McGowan as mechanic. We had a good time out there and I got 15 points o help Outrup squeeze a win. Hopefully this meeting might lead to some more meetings in Denmark in the future, so watch this space.
And now we are here at GP time again. I have just finished the practice for tomorrow, but would you believe it that I missed yet another connecting flight, which prevented me from taking part in the first two practice sessions. Once I finally got out there the track was good and there were many racing lines on it, which will hopefully still be there tomorrow. The bikes worked really well although the weather has started to cool here where it is only thirteen degrees today.
I am ready for the GP tomorrow now and I am looking for a Monster night!
Greg
