On a rainy night in Malilla, Greg could do no better than 9th place just missing out on the semi finals on count back. After the heats, Greg was joint 8th with Chris Harris and Kenneth Bjerre on 8 points. With 3 riders but only 2 places available the GP count back system was used. Kenneth with 2 race wins got the first spot and Chris Harris by virtue of his two 2nd place finishes got the last spot.
The evening started with Greg getting only one point from his first ride, after not seeing the green light come on as it was being blocked by the TV cameraman and only realised that it was on when he heard the other riders reving their bikes. We tried different setups all night long, but nothing seemed to work, Greg said. Greg's only heat win came in heat 11 from red, which was the gate of the night. 13 of the 20 heats were won from red and both semi finals and the final were also won from red.
By winning the GP, Tomasz Gollob leapfrogged over Greg into 2nd place in the Grand Prix standings. With 4 rounds still on the table, it is still all to race for. Greg vowed to battle to the end.
