Hi Everybody
Welcome back to another great season. It has been a slow start as you most likely noticed. We have recently made some changes to the people running the website so it has been quiet for some time now. We apologize for that. All should be up and going again very soon and will remain that way from here on out. We intend to keep you fully informed on my racing schedule, scores and news as well. I want to make it a great year. Many of you have already noticed and/or began following me on Twitter @ Greghancock45 so I appreciate that. It’s an easy and great way for me to keep in touch with my friends and of course all you out there in the speedway world. Keep Twittin! :) I want to extend my condolences to all the Polish people for the sad loss of their President and his political team. A very sad day! That along with the volcanic ash from the erupting volcano in Iceland has really made travel come to a virtual halt. This has led to a lot of cancellations or delays to flights, events etc. It seems that life has now returned to normal and hope it can stay that way.
I came off a great winter back in California with plenty of rest before the holidays and then after New Years, it was back on. I did a lot of riding road bicycles with my friends for training and also as a hobby. I have been inspired by Lance Armstrong and his return to the sport after a short retirement a couple of years ago. He is on it again and looks likely to win the Tour de France again! Awesome!! Aside from that, I have another inspiration for bike riding that comes more from a health aspect as a couple of friends of mine in the USA are using the riding and good eating habits as a way to beat weight and health issues. No better way to do it I can say. My friends and I are now planning a charity bike ride in Sweden which is in the early development stages as we speak but be sure to follow our progress or even grab a bike and join us. It’s all about getting in shape and beating potential health issues. I will talk about it on Twitter too. Let’s ride!
The first GP was in Leszno, Poland last Saturday and what a disaster that was for my team and I. I never really got into the groove or felt comfortable. It seemed as though we completely lost track of the race. I can make no excuses except that I probably lacked track or racing time with the slow start to the season. That' all you are going to hear from me about it! No use dwelling. Gotta pick up the pace now "Go for the Gold"!! Other than the GP, most the racing has kicked off good. I started the season off with practice in the USA at a great track in Perris, California (Perris Flat Track). My sister is a co-promoter at that facility so I also competed in an invitational event that was staged back in March. I also went up to a good friend Gary Davis's place in Northern California. He has an amazing oval on his property that is approximately 360-380m and just awesome to ride on. Even better, it’s in the California Sunshine. :) I'm really rubbing it in. After returning to Europe I had 2 practice races in Poland as well as the first official event in Tarnow. Tarnow was not that great as it rained all day and we were hindered with some engines troubles but got it all fixed now. Then came a Czech League event in Prague where I rode for Mseno and that went well. This was followed by an event in Esbjerg, Denmark that ended in a draw. I was racing for the Team in Esbjerg too. The great town of the best Danish rider ever in my opinion, Eric Gundersen!
There is a long season ahead of us now and one that I look forward to conquering. Hope to see all of somewhere along the way so take it easy and keep it on the back wheel! Thanks again for your continued support. If you have any requests for the website or interest in our future charity event then please send a message to Richard: info@greghancock.com
Go Fast!
