Four-time Speedway world champion Greg Hancock insists it’s business as usual as he ramps up his preparation for the 2019 season.
Greg, who bounced back from a career-threatening injury in 2018 to finish fifth in the 2018 world championship, is back home in California with his family ahead of another season of racing in Europe.
Despite having plenty of time to relax in the sun, Greg has been busy planning another assault on the world title.
He said:
It’s been a great off season so far, I’ve had lots going on, both private and business, and we’ve been relaxing since we got back to California and loving every minute of it.
“It seems like it goes quiet on the speedway front but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t happening in the background.
“I’ve been working on new ideas and thoughts, new test projects for 2019 and beyond, and it’s super important for me to stay in the game and to constantly try to be better and to learn about new projects or possibilities with performance related items. That’s what keeps me hungry and actually makes me more and more hungry every year.
The #45 has been keeping sharp with practice sessions and plans to up the ante in the coming weeks ahead of his return to Europe; “I’m back on the bike already, I’ll be doing more and more riding over the next few weeks and then looking forward to getting back into race mode.
Sometimes things can get too slow over Christmas and New Year, but once you hit New Year the clock starts ticking and it feels like it comes around so fast. We’re having a great time here but the other side of the coin is that I know it won’t be long before I’m back in Europe and going full gas again – and I love it.
