The Speedway World Champion is refreshed and ready for the second half of the season after some time off in July.
Greg decided not to take part in Team USA’s Monster Energy Speedway World Cup campaign and took some time out with his family instead, taking in the world famous Goodwood Festival of Speed and then spending a few days camping in Sweden.
Now the Champ is ready to get back into the swing of things and started with paid-11 for Piraterna on Tuesday as they beat Masarna, and he has another match in Sweden next week before heading back to the UK for the British Grand Prix in Cardiff.
It’s been a nice break but now Greg’s ready to race, “It’s been more or less below par for me so far this season but in recent weeks it feels like we’ve really got things working the way we like it again. The bikes are working great now, we have some changes being made to some of my engines so they should come back good and we really feel like we’re back in the game,” he said.
My league form over the last month or so has been pretty good, I’ve scored a lot of points and it has given me a lot of confidence that we’re on the right path so I’m really excited for the rest of the season. It’s never fun to start the season chasing and to be searching for the right set-up but it just makes me even more hungry to work harder and get back in the mix.
In one way I hate to have a long break like this because I’m in a good rhythm, but we’ve been testing a lot and making sure that the equipment is 100%. I need to make sure that I can come back to the second half of the season with a clear mind, Cardiff is a great place to come back to after a break because it’s a special place for me.
It’s one of the biggest meetings you can race in and it’s somewhere that I have had some good success in the past so I’ll be heading into the meeting with even more speed, desire and momentum than ever before.
A reminder for UK fans that Greg will be joining TV commentator Nigel Pearson next Thursday (20 July) at the Cleveland Arms in Wolverhampton, where he will be on stage telling stories about his career, answering questions and signing autographs.
We will also have GH45 merchandise available to buy.
