FOUR-TIME SPEEDWAY WORLD CHAMPION GREG HANCOCK is delighted to announce the formation of the Team Hancock Racing Team in partnership with Rafal Haj Speedway Parts, in a move that sees three young riders become the first ever to join Greg in racing under the Team Hancock/Haj umbrella.
After several weeks and months of thorough planning, Greg has joined forces with Chief Mechanic Rafal Haj to form a racing team that will initially support riders in the 250cc class, beginning with the 250cc World Championships in Prague at the end of the month.
Joining the team are American youngsters Colton Hicks and Sebastian Palmese as well as Polish racer Wiktor Lampart, and all three of them will race in Prague with the help of Team Hancock/Haj.
The aim is to not only support the FIM 250cc project but to encourage other sponsors, riders and manufacturers to get involved and eventually, help riders at all age levels as they progress in their speedway careers.
Greg explains more;
It has been a lot of planning and organisational work but myself and Raf are stoked to finally be able to announce this project. We have applied with the FIM to become an official race team, something we hope to have confirmed in the next few days, and we will be in Prague helping Colton, Sebastian and Wiktor in their quest for glory in the 250cc World Championships and beyond that, to become World Champions.
We have built some bikes and have them all prepared for the guys and myself and Raf will be joined in Prague by my mechanics Bodzio and Oskar – giving the guys all of the expertise they need and all of the help we can.
This is about giving something back and helping the next generation, it can be hard for these kids to go to big events like this so we wanted to help and create a bit of an academy where we can guide them through and see them progress.
Raf is one of the greatest mechanical minds in the sport, what he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing, and I’ve been around the block a few times so together I think we’ve got a lot to pass on and this is our way of doing it.
The Championships in Prague promise to be a great event and it’d be really cool to see a lot of speedway fans there to support these kids, I’ll be there all week (August 27 – 30) so it’d be awesome to meet some of you and say hello and let you know more about what we’re doing.
We want to educate and inspire – so hopefully it’s the start of something special!
